Sojourner House has rescheduled its 16th Annual Victorian Tea, now to take place virtually on Sunday, Aug. 16, 12:30 to 2 p.m., due to COVID-19. The event will still feature a raffle of an annual favorite, tea baskets, with a new twist: the names of people who submit photos of wearing hats or fascinators will be entered into a second raffle drawing! In addition, musical performances by internationally renowned Brazilian jazz vocalist Kenia Ashby (kenialive.com) will be featured during Pre-Teatime at 12:30 to 1 p.m. Registration for the Tea is free. Award-winning journalist Brian Cook will emcee this year's Victorian Tea, with the schedule including: • Pre-Teatime (12:30 to 1 p.m.) o Music from Brazilian jazz singer Kenia Ashby. o Photos of events from this past year that include staff, residents, board members, and other volunteers! o The names of ALL registrants will be entered into a raffle to win one of our ever-popular tea baskets! o Sojourner House greatly encourages registrants to submit photos of you wearing your favorite Tea fascinator or hat… you’ll be entered into a drawing to win one of six prizes … and photos will be shown during Pre-Teatime! o Please email your photo with a caption to Lindsey Hayakawa, Development & Communications Coordinator, at Lhayakawa@sjhpa.org, by Wednesday, Aug. 12, to be entered into a drawing! • Program (1 to 2 p.m.) o Inside tours of Sojourner House's three program facilities. o This year's Honorary Chair is Leah Lizarondo, CEO and Co-Founder of 412 Food Rescue. o Pearl of Hope Awardee: Chatham University's Words Without Walls creative writing program.
