We are kicking off #NewMemberMonday with Paint Nail Bar! PAINT is a stunning new nail salon in East Liberty that promotes healthy and clean nails! On their website, I noticed that their objective, “is to ensure that at the end of every service, every client feels that going anywhere other than PAINT, the standard having been set, would not be possible or tolerable.” I decided to discover if that was true and learn more about PAINT by talking with the owners of the East Liberty franchise!

I started my research with a phone call with Maria Kasper, who discovered the PAINT Nail Bar franchise. Maria is a podiatrist in York, Pennsylvania. Through her work, she has experienced many patients with fungus, in-grown toenails, infections, and more, due to unsanitary nail salons. Maria began to wonder what she could do with this, and she discovered PAINT Nail Bar. She started talking to the founders and discovered how much time effort and research they spent to create a healthy and clean nail salon while providing the customer with an experience that will make them want to come back. For example, for pedicure bowls, PAINT doesn’t have whirlpools because the jets can hold bacteria and fungi. PAINT has a plain ceramic bowl with nice warm water that does not risk harboring bacteria and fungus. They also disinfect them after each client. PAINT was a perfect match for what Maria was looking for. However, she did not have much experience with small business. This is when she decided to talk with her husband, Marlene Micko, and Marlene’s husband. Maria’s husband went to college with Marlene & her husband and they have been friends for about 20-30 years! They all decided to be a part of opening PAINT Nail Bar. They chose East Liberty because the demographics worked better in Pittsburgh than York. They worked with a realtor and chose East Liberty since it is an up and coming place. They also wanted a lot of community involvement and host many pop up events! PAINT opened at the end of November of 2019 and business has been thriving ever since!

After I spoke with Maria, I decided to go visit Marlene, who is the store manager, at Paint Nail Bar.

When I arrived at PAINT, I felt spoiled as soon as I walked in the door. I was happily greeted by Marlene and the woman at the front desk. Marlene took my coat and scarf and gave me a glass of sparkling water before we sat down on the couch to talk. I noticed that PAINT didn’t smell of chemicals like normal nail salons. When I asked Marlene about it, she told me that they use products free of carcinogens and have vents throughout the place as well as at the tables so customers and staff aren’t breathing in chemicals all day. This already made PAINT stand out to me and made a huge difference with feeling like it was a high end nail experience. Marlene also told me the nail techs give you the nail file and buffer to keep so they don’t reuse it on other customers and so you can keep your nails in the best shape when you leave! As I looked around, I noticed how clean the salon really was. Marlene also pointed out the pedicure station and I saw the tubs Maria told me about. The pedicure station will make you feel right at home with the comfortable pillows, chairs, and clean ceramic bowls. Marlene also told me she’ll offer customers a fuzzy blanket if they’re cold and tries to make everyone feel as comfortable as possible. I thought that was super sweet and noticed the fuzzy blankets on the shelf next to me. Marlene told me that all PAINT Nail Bars are consistent with decor across locations to give customers a feeling of familiarity and know what to expect when they go. I decided to walk around the nail salon to get a better view of everything. Down the middle, they have many products available for purchase. This includes jewelry, beanies, mugs, scrunchies, and more! I also noticed you can book PAINT for a party such as a bachelorette or birthday! Lastly, Marlene told me that the East Liberty Chamber is such a great service and resource to get to know the area for people who aren’t familiar with it. She also mentioned that the chamber is always so helpful with everything they need and super supportive. If you’re considering becoming a member, make sure to reach out to us and your business could be the next #NewMemberMonday feature!

To conclude, if you want to have a nail experience that makes you feel spoiled but doesn’t break the bank, make sure you book your next appointment at PAINT Nail Bar!
