“Though it’s a trio … its sound described something bigger and more indivisible.” —The New York Times

Jason Moran, a performer whom NPR Music calls “a leading jazz pianist of this era,” comes to Pittsburgh with his group The Bandwagon—bassist Tarus Mateen and drummer Nasheet Waits—artist who have challenged the status quo and earned a reputation as the future of jazz.

Frequently influenced by the wider world of art, Moran has found inspiration in The Museum of Modern Art and the Whitney Museum of American Art. He scored a ballet for Alonzo King’s renowned LINES Ballet, as well as video works for contemporary American artists Glenn Ligon and Kara Walker, along with a number of collaborations with well-known artists.

Made possible with generous support from Advancing Black Arts in Pittsburgh, a partnership of The Pittsburgh Foundation and The Heinz Endowments.
