Less Guts Than Most: November Unblurred

Print Page

“Less Guts Than Most” is an exploration of the anxiety and body horror that comes with a chronic illness diagnosis. Using soft sculpture and printmaking, Lauren Bailey manipulates scientific illustration into nauseating patterns and intimate illustrations of her perception of the inner body’s workings. “Less Guts Than Most” investigates the body as temporary and the will behind survival. Join Assemble on Friday, November 2 from 6-10pm to meet the artist, learn to crochet a piece of the show, and decorate intestine cookies for your guts! About the Artist: Lauren Bailey is an artist and educator originally from Athens, Georgia. She has a BFA in studio art from the School of Art and Design at Alfred University. She has taught at Artists Image Resource, Mattress Factory, and the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh. Her work explores portraiture and figures through digital manipulations, relief and screenprinting.
