BikePGH’s Women & Non-Binary Forum aims to break down barriers to bicycling and advocacy

PITTSBURGH – On Saturday April 6th, Bike Pittsburgh will host the 6th Annual Women and Non-Binary Forum presented by Dollar Bank. This forum brings together women and non-binary people from across the region to talk about shared experiences, challenges, and tools to address mobility, biking, advocacy, and more.

“This year's forum has a special focus on empowerment, giving women and non-binary people the tools they can use to exercise their voice and get involved in effective organizing,” said Julie Mallis, organizer of the Women and Non-Binary Program. Mallis notes that the forum is undergoing a number of changes in 2019 including expanded accessibility and inclusivity by offering childcare and ASL interpretation, among other accommodations.

This day of camaraderie includes morning yoga, breakfast snacks, breakout sessions ranging from health & wellness to DIY bicycle cap making, keynote lecture, lunch, networking, and group bike ride to end the event.

The forum will be held at the Ace Hotel Gym from 8am-4pm. To register for the event, see BikePGH’s online event page https://bikepgh.org/forum or call the BikePGH office at 412-325-4334.

In addition to the forum, BikePGH will be offering a women and non-binary-only Confident City Cycling class on Sunday April 7th from 1pm-4pm. From navigating traffic patterns to effective braking methods, this class is intended for riders who know how to ride a bike, and are looking for instruction on how to operate it safely on city streets.

Scholarships and discount codes are available if the cost is prohibitive to you or if you are advertising to your group or club! Click here to request a scholarship. ASL interpretation and childcare available upon request. Click here to fill out our Accessibility and accommodations Survey.
