East Liberty Valley Historical Society’s Marilyn Evert Lectures
The East Liberty Valley Historical Society announces the Spring 2022 schedule for its Marilyn Evert Lecture Series.
In illustrated talks, speakers will examine the vanished Italian American community in Pittsburgh’s Larimer neighborhood, the social and landscape history of Mellon Park, the creation of Heinz Chapel and the life and legacy of Sophie Masloff.
The series is named for its late founder, the anthropologist, art historian and author Marilyn Evert, who began it in 2015. A founding director of the society from 2002 until her death in 2018, Marilyn was passionate about educating people about the unique history of her adopted East End.
All talks are free to the public and held in the Parish Hall of Calvary Episcopal Church, 315 Shady Ave., Pittsburgh 15206. They are held on the first Wednesday of the month except for March (due to Ash Wednesday). Masks and social distancing are required and free parking is available in the church lot. There is no online component.
