  • Sousa reaches Kickstarter goal for new Braddock restaurant

In what may go down as one of the region's most celebrated crowd-funding campaigns, Salt of the Earth operator Kevin Sousa reached his Kickstarter goal of raising $250,000 late Sunday to establish a new restaurant and "farm ecosystem" to be called Superior Motors in Braddock.

  • Thrill Mill's Business Bout application window officially open

    The Business Bout is a business plan competition where applicants compete for access to funding and a slot in the Hustle Den, Thrill Mill’s startup accelerator. Last year, we awarded $25,000 in funding. This cycle, we will be awarding $95,000 (one $25,000 winner and 14 $5,000 winners)! In addition, each team will receive more than $50,000 in services from Venture Boot Camp, Carnegie Mellon University Adjunct Professor of Entrepreneurship, Babs Carryer, and C-Leveled, along with free access to our 5,000 square foot accelerator space, the Hustle Den, in East Liberty.

  • Introducing: The Homewood Cemetery Truffle Times Sculpture Exposition

    Truffle Times is an art exhibit of over-sized chainsaw sculpted mushrooms presented to showcase local artists, promote conservation, celebrate Pittsburgh's history, and raise money for The Homewood Cemetery Historical Fund. The mushrooms are made from felled cemetery trees that would have otherwise been mulched or used for firewood.
